Origins & Evolution
Building on 2024 Success
In 2024, we brought together 50+ Black youth, artists, scholars, and community members for our inaugural conference. Youth led workshops, shared creative work, and developed scholarship on Black culture and popular culture.

Based on the success 2024, we're expanding in 2026 with a multi-day symposium that includes a youth entrepreneur marketplace, art exhibition, academic conference, and youth-led programming.

Centering Black Youth as Knowledge Creators
Black Culture / Popular Culture is rooted in a vision of Black youth as co-creators of knowledge, culture, and futures. We believe young Black people are experts in their own experiences and architects of liberation.

Through participatory research, community engagement, and cultural celebration, we create spaces where Black youth voices lead scholarship and shape the future.
